This one-night-only event aimed to explore complex scientific concepts through the lenses of dance and philosophy. “The View From Nowhere” was held on September 3rd2015 at the Black Box Theater at CUNY Hunter College. The evening consisted of a multi-dimensional exploration of the concept of the “overview effect” – the change in understanding of human nature that astronauts experience when seeing Earth from space. The event consisted of a talk by a philosopher of science, a dance performance of “BLUEMARBLE” by Julian Barnett & Jocelyn Tobias, and a Q&A between the dancers, the philosopher and a scientist/moderator.
